- You Are Lazy
If you've not even taken time to change the auto-generated text, you're a lazy bum. And, as I am NOT lazy, I have no desire to spend my time connecting to someone who is. - You Will Settle For Anyone
By sending out this message to everyone in your address book you communicate that you aren't particularly choosey and you'll connect to anyone to raise your number of connections.
Also, of note:
- I am less likely to connect to someone with more than 500 connections unless I know them really, really well.
- Profile updates are helpful to me, but if you overuse the feature I'll unconnect from you ASAP.
- If you spam me with a LinkedIN connection request repeatedly, I will report you to LinkedIN.

I know this is a kind of old entry, but I wanted to express my frustration (if that's what it is) with making connection requests. I'm fairly new to LinkedIn, and although I already have a few connections, I can't bring myself to attempt to make anymore because the social laws governing connection requests are so ambiguous and seem to change from person to person. Are there any basic rules I can keep in mind when making a connection request?
