Social Networking news and information

As someone who is immensely jealous of her Mac friends and their on-board video camera, I'm even more motivated now to put a camera on my own sad little notebook so I can make use of Flixn.  I'll probably hook up my digital camcorder later this week and give it a good look.

I stumbled across the site via del.icio.us yesterday and a Google search brought me Mashable's first look at Flixn, but I'm surprised that with an Alexa jump like this that people aren't really buzzing on this site.  Of course, it's a small reach (I'm guessing around 500-1500 uniques a day), but considering their launch was 10 days ago and I've seen no advertising, I'm impressed.


With the aim of giving easy video recording/uploading/sharing to the MySpace set, Flixn has set up a site that is super easy to navigate.  I think even my mom could figure this one out (no offense Mom). 

The only thing I'd change about this is the ability to browse other's videos and make it a little more social (ie add profiles and connecting).  However, I think the developers were very focused on making something that was 1-very simple and 2-could be harnessed by existing social networks *within their own domain* (see the developer's page here).
