My aplogies for copying the entire post, but it was rather short and power-packed. The LinkedIN Bloggers group (disclosure, I'm a moderator) has been buzzing (registration req) about it today. Apparently closing your account does NOT require your contacting support:

Login to your account.
Go to the "Contact Customer Service" page at:
