Guy Kawasaki launched a new Social Media service at Alltop.com today. According to Guy:
"..The concept of the site is deceptively simple. Therein lies its Zen power. What does Alltop do? It is a one-stop aggregation of the most recent stories from 35 top websites in popular categories such as celebrities, sports, fashion, Mac, and the controversial category egos. More About Alltop here. The interface is influenced by “Apple Aesthetics:” light on graphics, no clutter, open white space. Presentation supports functionality. Simple & brilliant."
Looking at http://politics.alltop.com/ the links just seem to go directly to the stories - so I'm not sure how AllTop.com will benefit you or not - but Guy Kawasaki thinks most people are not that sophisticated in reading or aggregating RSS Feeds and this service, AllTop.com, is for them.
Maybe it is - I don't know - with the Double Whammy Recession! happening - maybe Social Media is the answer to what comes next. We'll see.
Does it drive traffic to blogs - unless your blog or story is picked up via AllTop's top 30, I don't think it does.
