I reported recently that Maui Pineapple Company had created its own MySpace page, and now I’ve discovered that its sister-subsidiary company, Kapalua Resort, located on Maui, Hawaii, has done the same. Kapalua Resort and Maui Pineapple are subsidiaries of the same parent company, Maui Land & Pineapple Company, so it makes sense that they are stepping hand-in-hand with their marketing efforts and tapping into the power of social networks as a marketing and promotion vehicle.

Kapalua Resort announced their new MySpace page on their blog, KapaluaNews.com. Their MySpace page can be found at www.myspace.com/KapaluaResort. You can see they have a few friends there already and belong to a few groups; they also provide some very fetching photographs of Kapalua and the surrounding area, as well as some useful versions of their company logo. It’ll be interesting to see how many friends and fans they can garnish. I’m sure there are a lot of people on MySpace who love to vacation, especially to such beautiful places as Kapalua on Maui, Hawaii. And certainly there are plenty of local Hawaiians on MySpace who would feel a connection to Kapalua Resort.

MySpace can be a successful promotional tool for businesses. Many musicians and bands utilize MySpace for that very reason, and I believe more traditional businesses should be doing it. These businesses join MySpace groups, branch out, and attract more fans. A MySpace page also offers a personal way to connect and interact with customers and fans, to hear their feedback.
